An unidentified Deputy US Marshal from the Western District of Louisiana was shot and killed during the operation, the US Marshals Service confirmed in a statement.
After a “lengthy standoff,” the suspect, who sustained injuries, was taken into custody and transported to a local hospital for treatment, cops said.
It’s unclear whether officers returned fire on the suspect or what injuries the individual sustained.
One woman, who has not been named, said she repeatedly told her kids, “Just get down” as gunshots rang out, KALB reported.

“I had them in the room, down. Because I didn’t know what was going on,” she said.
“Not even five seconds later, that’s when we heard the gunshots. It just went boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. So, the cops ran back out.”
Others said the fugitive was “a good man,” who was “always in good spirits.”
“I actually gave him a ride over to Popeyes one day, and he spoke a lot of life into me. He was a good dude. He had a lot of wisdom on him,” Louis Means, a cashier at a nearby Tobacco Plus shop, said.
“You never would have expected something like this.”
“Louisiana State Police is also investigating potential violations of state law.
“The subject, now under investigation, was taken into custody, and there is no ongoing threat to the public.”
The FBI’s New Orleans Field Office did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.
