A $15,000 reward is being offered for tips that help authorities find whoever left a newborn’s body in a portable toilet last month at the Electric Forest festival in Rothbury.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation is offering the reward for information that leads to the identification, arrest, and conviction of the individual or individuals responsible, Michigan State Police officials said Monday on X.
Anyone with information about the newborn or any suspects in the case should call the Michigan State Police’s tip line at 1-855-MICH-TIP, or 1-855-642-4847. They can also submit tips online at http://Michigan.gov/MichTip.
Officials said the newborn’s body was found on June 28 in a portable toilet at the Electric Forest festival in Rothbury. The music festival at the Double JJ Resort began on June 25 and ended on June 28.
A restroom company employee discovered the body during routine maintenance at the camping area, they said.
Officials said earlier this month that an autopsy on the body had been completed. On Monday, they said they can confirm that the autopsy’s preliminary findings indicate the infant was viable and alive at birth.
Last Friday, Michigan State Police said they had received a tip about a Muskegon area female who was at the festival and reportedly had information relevant to the investigation.
Detectives located the female and interviewed her, according to authorities. Police said she was cooperative, and investigators eliminated her as a suspect in the case.
