Someone is really getting in character for The Odyssey. On Monday, Zendaya, who’s starring in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film, stepped out of her New York hotel in a white tunic from Alberta Ferretti’s spring 2008 collection and a pair of Sophia Webster gladiator sandals. Yes, gladiator sandals — like the ones you strutted around your middle school in during the early aughts. Also like the ones J.Lo wore on American Idol in 2014. And if Zendaya’s intrepid stylist and brand architect, Law Roach, is putting them on his muse? Well, then, they really must be back.

As is tradition, Roach has been collaborating with Zendaya on her Method dressing throughout the film’s press run. He’s already given us vintage McQueen-era Givenchy couture, custom Louis Vuitton, and the finale Schiaparelli bodice the very same day it walked down the runway in Paris. (It was transported onto Zendaya’s body for the film’s London premiere via private jet, naturally.) And that’s all before The Odyssey’s New York premiere on Tuesday. Maybe she’ll descend out of the belly of an 8,800-pound replica of a Trojan horse. Or perhaps she’ll come dressed as the Trojan horse? Can’t wait.
