Did Caleb Wilson Shade AJ Dybantsa, Darryn Peterson in Summer League Video? NBA Fans Sound Off

After the Washington Wizards AJ Dybantsa and Darryn Peterson didn’t play on Monday night, Chicago Bulls rookie Caleb Wilson seemed upset about not getting the chance to face them in Summer League.
Asked about not getting to face off against the top two picks in the 2026 NBA draft, Wilson commented “I love this s–t” when describing how he feels playing basketball.
Some fans speculated that Wilson’s comments came off as a dig at Dybantsa and Peterson for their teams ending their Summer League season early.
Clearly, neither Dybantsa nor Peterson were ducking a matchup against Wilson. Their teams made the call to shut them down, which is not at all uncommon in Summer League for top draft picks.
It’s more surprising that Wilson is still playing, though the Bulls may want him to get as many reps as possible as he works his way back from thumb surgery that ended his college season prematurely.
The Bulls started this week in Vegas with a back-to-back against the Jazz and Wizards on Monday and Tuesday.
Peterson hasn’t technically been shut down at this point. He was held out on Monday night with what the team labeled as a rest day.
It was the second night of a back-to-back for Utah after a 104-82 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers. Peterson played 26 minutes in the game, scoring 23 points and dishing out five assists.
The Wizards announced on Tuesday, hours before their matchup with Chicago, that Dybantsa was being shut down after two Summer League appearances.
Dybantsa showed exactly what he needed to for the Wizards to believe he was fine. The No. 1 pick in the 2026 draft averaged 25.0 points and 7.0 rebounds in his two games.
Even though Wilson didn’t get to face off against Peterson or Dybantsa yet, he has been everything the Bulls hoped for when they took him with the fourth pick.
The North Carolina alum is averaging 24.3 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.3 blocks in three games. His debut saw him put up 35 points against the Memphis Grizzlies, the second-most ever for a player in their first career Summer League game.
Wilson and the Bulls have games remaining against the Los Angeles Lakers and Cleveland Cavaliers in the Summer League before the playoffs begin on Saturday.
