Zendaya Wore a Winged Goddess Gown to the ‘Odyssey’ Premiere

The Odyssey’s multicity press run was not a competition to see who could dress the best. That being said, if it were a competition, it would be fitting that Zendaya arrived at last night’s New York premiere in a gown that recalls Nike, the winged goddess of victory. No one else really does on-theme dressing like her.

Zendaya wore a gown from French brand Matières Fécales (that’s “Fecal Matter” en français) to Tuesday night’s premiere. Featuring a plunging neckline and pair of feather wings, the actress and her stylist, Law Roach, were clearly feeling the Greek goddess vibe. (Zendaya plays Athena in the movie.)

In an Instagram caption, the designers behind the dress, Hannah Rose Dalton and Steven Raj Bhaskaran, shared that this look has been in the works for Zendaya for years. “Law asked us to save this dress for Z almost 2 years ago as it was our first couture finale look,” they wrote. “We kept our promise and turned down so many great requests but knew this was the right fit for such an important creation in our archive. This moment is so special and we are so grateful to be part of Law and Zendaya’s fearless vision and legacy.”

Zendaya accessorized with a pair of heelless Christian Louboutins (designed in collaboration with Matières Fécales) and Chopard jewelry. Perhaps most notably, though, is the fact that Zendaya is participating in no-mascara summer. You heard it here first: Lashes are out; wings are in.
