PreCheck and Global Entry Applications Won’t Be Delayed During Shutdown

Anyone looking to apply for TSA PreCheck or Global Entry to expedite passage through airport security and customs lines shouldn’t have to worry about their application being stalled due to the government shutdown.

Because those programs are funded by application fees, workers handling applications are still on the job.

“We do not anticipate any delays processing or scheduling appointments for Global Entry and PreCheck applications,” a Homeland Security spokesperson told Barron’s. “Global Entry applications take an average of 48 days to process while PreCheck applicants will receive a response within 3-5 business days. Those who require additional review for PreCheck will take approximately 60 days.”
