Tennis star back after world-first boob job

French star Oceane Dodin has revealed she has had a boob job, claiming she is the first professional tennis player to undergo the physical enhancement.

Dodin, 28, reached a career-high No. 46 in the rankings back in 2017 and has earned £2.1 million (A$4.28m) in prize money in her 14 years on tour, The Sun reports.

She won a WTA title in Canada back in 2016 and has 17 ITF tournament wins, achieving her best grand slam performance with a fourth-round effort at last year’s Australian Open, losing to eventual finalist Zheng Qinwen.

She recently spent nine months away from the sport due to a long-term ear issue which led to her suffering from vertigo.

During the forced time off, Dodin opted to have a breast augmentation, returning to practice in April this year.

“It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a long time,” Dodin told RMC Sport.

“It’s true that I took advantage of this break because I told myself that since you have to stop about two months after the operation, when you’re in the season, it’s not possible.

“So I said to myself, ‘if I’m going to stop for six months, I might as well do what I want’.

“And then I prefer to do it now than at 40, when I’ll have finished my career.

“I’m very happy to have done it, I don’t regret it at all and it doesn’t bother me.”

Dodin did admit she was warned about the procedure and that it could affect her ability to play.

She added: “Everyone told me ‘you’re not going to be able to play’. As if I had put on watermelons.

“They’re not small, but that doesn’t bother me when I play. There are adapted bras.

“Simona Halep (had a breast reduction as a junior), but they were very, very big. That handicapped her.

“But yes, it’s true that I must be the first to play with breast augmentations; there has to be a first for everything.”

Dodin returned to the court for the first time in late September, reaching the quarter-finals of a ITF event in Reims.

Following her long break from tennis her ranking has plummeted to No. 363, but she is determined to start climbing back up the rankings.

Dodin also has a strong following off the court, with almost 56,000 followers on her Instagram account.
