Jenna Ortega, Rose Byrne Set for ‘Nasty’ at Warner Bros Clockwork Label

Warner Bros. Clockwork is rolling cameras this fall on Nasty starring Jenna Ortega and Oscar nominee Rose Bryne.
The project from filmmaker Mary Bronstein reteams her with Byrne, who received her first Best Actress Oscar nomination for the director’s If I Had Legs I’d Kick You. Nasty was a 2024 Black List screenplay by Isabella Jarosz, and it reps the scribe’s first script sale.
Nasty centers around a prodigious athlete who is battling for a spot on the Olympics gymnastics team. However, she must overcome her biggest opponent: Her coach.
Margot Robbie’s LuckyChap and Ortega are producing the project.
If I Had Legs I’d Kick You earned Byrne a BAFTA, Critics Choice Best Actress nomination and she the Golden Globe Best Actress Musical Comedy for the pic in which she plays a woman on the verge of a breakdown, coping with her daughter’s illness, an absent husband, a missing person, and an unusual relationship with her therapist.
Ortega is a Best Actress Emmy comedy nominee, a 2x Golden Globe nominee and 2x Actors Awards nominee for her turn as the titular character in Netflix’s Wednesday. Nasty brings Ortega back to Warner Bros where she made her highest grossing movie, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice ($452M WW) and J.J. Abrams The Great Beyond.
Bronstein is repped by CAA, attorney David Krintzman. Jarosz is repped by CAA, Untitled, and Ziffren. Ortega is repped by CAA and Jeff Hynick at Jackoway Austen. Byrne is repped by CAA and RGM Artists. LuckyChap is repped by CAA, Entertainment 360 and Attorney Jeff Bernstein.
