Guest Dies After Riding ‘it’s a small world’ at Walt Disney World

A guest suffered a heart emergency while riding “it’s a small world” in April at Walt Disney World and later passed away at a local hospital.

According to TMZ, a 54-year-old man with a pre-existing condition experienced a cardiac medical emergency while riding “it’s a small world” on April 24. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Details surrounding the guest’s death in April were only recently disclosed in an update from the Florida Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services.

“it’s a small world” is a gentle, slow-moving, whimsical ten-minute boat ride where guests float through colorful, multi-continental scenes that feature over 300 Audio-Animatronic dolls.

Earlier in July, there was a fire on “it’s a small world“. A video, posted on TikTok, July 1, shows guests evacuating the attraction. Disney later confirmed a guest’s personal phone charger caught on fire while on the ride—likely while loading or unloading. Cast Members reacted quickly and immediately put it out, and ride operations resumed shortly after the incident. No one was injured.
