Inside Mollie King and Stuart Broad’s relationship – here’s the sad reason why the couple aren’t married

We’re used to hearing Mollie King on our airwaves alongside her radio co-host Matt Edmondson, but she’ll soon be joining a new double act. It’s been announced that The Saturdays star will be part of the latest Celebrity Gogglebox line-up alongside her IRL fiancé, former cricketer Stuart Broad.
The couple took to Instagram this week to share the news that they’ll be joining the new cohort of celebs for the hit Channel 4 show.

Boasting an illustrious career, Stuart is a pretty big deal in the cricketing world.
Over his 18-year stint as a cricketer, he played at county level for Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire, as well as representing England’s national team over several major international formats. He holds the accolade of the second-highest wicket-taker in English Test history.
Stuart retired as a professional cricket player in 2023. He now works as a sports broadcaster, doing cricket punditry for outlets like Sky Sports, and co-hosting the For The Love of Cricket podcast alongside fellow former cricketer, Jos Buttler.
Did Mollie King and Stuart Broad split?
While the couple are happily settled now, Mollie and Stuart almost were each other’s ‘one that got away’.
They actually started dating in 2012 when Mollie was still in The Saturdays, alongside Frankie Bridge, Una Healy, Rochelle Humes, and Vanessa White, but broke up within a year. Stuart wrote in his autobiography about how demanding work schedules made their romance impossible to maintain at the time.
‘Typical of young professionals, we were all over the place,’ he wrote. ‘In early 2013, I flew off to India for some one-dayers and then on to New Zealand. Mollie went to film in Los Angeles, and despite really enjoying each other’s company, being at opposite ends of the world didn’t help us stay in touch.’
He continued, ‘It is fair to say we were two people putting their careers first at that stage in our lives. I would never have guessed how big an impact she would have later on mine.’
Are Mollie King and Stuart Broad engaged?
Yes, Mollie and Stuart got engaged in 2021, after rekindling their old flame a couple of years before.
The Saturdays singer wrote on Instagram at the time: ‘A thousand times yes! 💍 I still can’t believe it, the most magical start to the new year! I can’t wait to spend all my years with you @stuartbroad ❤️’
Even though the couple has been engaged for a while now, there’s a tragic reason why they haven’t wed yet. Mollie has opened up about how she can’t ‘bear to think’ about her wedding day after her dad passed away.
Her father, Stephen, was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2022 and sadly died November that year, just days after Molly gave birth to her daughter, Annabella.
‘It [dad’s illness] happened so quickly, out of nowhere,’ she told The Times in an interview. ‘I was in the final stage of the pregnancy, so it was incredibly tough. I’m so grateful Dad was able to meet my daughter and see me in this phase of my life.’
She added, ‘I can’t bear to think about my wedding without Dad being there. Elements like walking down the aisle without him, I still struggle with. There needs to be a gap so I can process it all.’
