The Open Championship: Who will miss the cut?

At The Open Championship, it’s top 70 and ties that make it to the weekend. That put the cut at +1 at Royal Birkdale.

That was good news for Keegan Bradley, who finished Round 2 on the number, +1. It’s bad news for Aaron Rai, the PGA Championship winner, who is in at +2.

Rory McIlroy was on the wrong side of the potential +1 cut line, and looked like he might struggle to make it to the weekend early in Round 2, but a more Rory-esque finish — three birdies on his final 12 holes — has him to -1, comfortably on the good side of the cut.

So is Bryson DeChambeau, he of the dubious (and widely publicized) distinction of having missed the cut at the three previous majors this season. DeChambeau is sitting near the top of the leaderboard, just one back of the lead. He will avoid golf’s version of the golden sombrero.
