Thousands in Oregon remain under evacuation orders as wildfires burn statewide

PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — Currently, thousands of Oregonians remain under active evacuation orders because of wildfires burning across the state.

The largest fire burning in Oregon as of Friday morning is the Crosswhite Fire, which has burned 13,883 acres.

The fire was sparked by lightning in Wheeler County, and several other fires in the area are now part of the Rowe Creek Complex.

The second-largest fire is the East Evans Road Fire, burning north of Medford.

As of Friday morning, it has burned 13,090 acres. The fire started after a vehicle crash ignited nearby vegetation.

The Oregon Wildfires Dashboard says there are 133 fires burning in the state. So far those fires have burned 85,917 acres.
