On a day when Josh Kerr tries to take down a legendary world record and Keely Hodgkinson runs a first outdoor 800m in the UK as Olympic champion, it is Amy Hunt who may find herself in the best race in London.

Off the back of World Championship silver medal over 200m in Tokyo last September, Hunt will go in her preferred distance against one of the highest-class fields at the Wanda Diamond League at the London Stadium.
The race features Olympic champions over 100m, Julien Alfred, 200m, Gabby Thomas, and 400m, Shaunae Miller-Uibo, as well Britain’s present and future in the event in Dina Asher-Smith, Hunt, and Success Eduan.
Eduan got the better of Hunt at the recent UK Championships, while Alfred ran the third fastest time in history in Monaco last week, setting this up to be a race for the ages.

And while Hunt admits that the 100m has gone better for her than her preferred two so far this season, she is itching to prove her worth against the best in the world.
She said: “I’m so excited. London always attracts one of the strongest fields of the season, and it’s always a brilliant line-up, so I’m really looking forward to racing here.
“I love racing when the best athletes are on the start line. Every race is a new opportunity to learn about myself and about my competitors. I love it when the lights are on and it’s time to perform.”

With nearly 59,000 tickets already sold, and the 60,000-capacity expected to be filled at the London Stadium, fans will get a couple of bites of the cherry when it comes to watching Hunt.
That is because she will warm up for her 200m by going in the women’s 4x100m relay, a chance to follow in the footsteps of some of her idols, as well as getting in some valuable race prep ahead of the Commonwealth Games and the European Championships.
She added: “You’ll see me twice. I’ll be running in the relay. I absolutely love relay racing. I grew up watching it as a kid and cheering on athletes like Bianca Williams and Desiree Henry. Now it’s really special to be part of that team myself.

“It’ll be our first relay together this season. Over the last couple of years, we’ve produced some fantastic performances, so hopefully we can do something special again.”
