The youngsters enjoyed a quick tour of our office in Princes Street in Ardrossan and learned how our journalists find local stories and put the newspaper together.
They also had a look at our collection of archive editions of the paper, some dating back centuries.
The visitors had plenty of clever questions for the Herald reporters about where we get our stories from, as well as court and sport coverage – and the changes modern technology has made to the industry.
The Herald office is the Ayrshire headquarters of parent company Newsquest, who also publish local titles the Irvine Times, Largs & Millport Weekly News, Ayr Advertiser, Carrick Herald, Troon Times and Cumnock Chronicle.
