Liverpool have appointed Alejandro Rosalen as their new first-team goalkeeping coach.
The 49-year-old Spaniard joins Andoni Iraola’s backroom staff as a replacement for Xavi Valero, who stepped down at the end of last season after only 12 months.
Rosalen boasts a wealth of coaching experience having worked for Serie A outfit Napoli for the past five years. Prior to that, he spent eight years at Fiorentina and also had a spell in Hungary with Videoton. His coaching career started in his homeland at Valencia.
Meanwhile, young Liverpool goalkeeper Armin Pecsi won’t be part of the club’s pre-season tour of the U.S. as he’s on the brink of joining Austrian Bundesliga outfit TSV Hartberg on a season-long loan.
Liverpool are keen for the 21-year-old to gain regular senior experience with Hartberg beating off competition from a number of clubs in Switzerland and France.
Pecsi, who was an unused substitute at first-team level on five occasions in 2025-26, has impressed since joining Liverpool from Puskas Akademia last summer. A regular for the club at under-21s level, he made his senior international debut for Hungary against Kazakhstan last month.
