Former communities secretary Angela Rayner received £16,876 in a severance package after resigning last year, departmental accounts have revealed.
Ms Rayner resigned last September after it was ruled she breached the ministerial code in relation to her failure to pay sufficient stamp duty on the purchase of a flat.
However her severance package was not the largest paid out by Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government last year. The accounts for 2025-26 reveal that the Lords’ minister for faith Lord Wajid Khan received £17,742 for his 14 months’ service. He left the day after Ms Rayner.
Former local government minister Jim McMahon and devolution minister Alex Norris both left on the same day, 6 September.
Mr McMahon received £7,920 in severance pay while Mr Norris had not been in the position long enough to qualify because he had moved roles within three weeks.
Former homelessness minister Rushanara Ali quit in August last year, after accusations came to light about rent prices in a house she owns in London.
While Ms Ali was entitled to severance pay, she did not accept it.
