NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – Sumner County Schools is pushing back the first day of school after a security breach.
As a result of the breach, on Tuesday night the Sumner County School Board voted to change the first day of school. Instead of Aug. 4, students will start back on the 10th.
School board officials said parents will receive a message from the superintendent about the new start date.
The superintendent said they discovered unauthorized access to the school system’s network on Monday.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Homeland Security are all investigating the breech.
As a result, the school district will be sliding back some of the events by a week.
The school board agenda included the revised calendar. According to the calendar, fall break and Christmas have not changed.
