Man City star surpasses his own previous mark after ending 2025/26 as the top-scoring player
Erling Haaland has become the most expensive player of all time after being priced at £15.5m for 2026/27 Fantasy Premier League.
Manchester City’s Norwegian forward surpasses his own previous record of £15.0m from the 2024/25 campaign.
Haaland now appears four times in the list of the nine most expensive players of all time, having cost £14.0m at the start of both 2023/24 and last season, 2025/26.

Haaland has risen £1.5m from his starting price last season, when he went on to top the player charts on 239 points, thanks to 27 goals and eight assists.
Notably, that output made the Man City star both the most-owned and most-captained player in any Gameweek last season. The jump in cost for 2026/27 Fantasy means that if you plan to keep that strategy then you’ll need to make sacrifices elsewhere.
As FPL managers have a £100.0m budget to start the season, owning Haaland leaves you with just £84.5m left to spend on the other 14 players in your 15-man squad.
Strong starter
Despite his hefty price tag, Haaland’s history in Fantasy suggests that going without him would be a very risky tactic.
He has been the top-scoring player after the first six Gameweeks in all four of his seasons at Man City.
As you can see from the table below, the Norwegian has averaged nine goals over the first six Gameweeks in each season of his Fantasy career.
But it is worth noting that this season will be the first time Haaland has been involved in an international tournament beforehand, due to Norway’s participation in the FIFA World Cup, where Haaland scored seven goals.

Early Triple Captain option
Man City’s early schedule is another big factor in Haaland’s favour.
Enzo Maresca’s side have four home matches in the first seven Gameweeks, and TWO of them are against promoted sides – they host Coventry City and Ipswich Town in Gameweeks 3 and 7 respectively.
That boosts the appeal of playing your first Triple Captain chip of the season on Haaland.
In his first home match against a promoted side last season, Haaland scored twice and supplied an assist in a 5-1 win over Burnley to collect 16 points, his joint-best total of the entire campaign.
According to the Fixture Difficulty Ratings (FDR), those Coventry and Ipswich matches, as well as Man City’s home contest against Sunderland in Gameweek 5, score only two.

Monitoring Man City’s pre-season matches will be vital to keep an eye on Haaland’s fitness, with the forward set for a late return to action due to his exertions for Norway.
But providing he’s fully fit and ready to start at home to Bournemouth in Gameweek 1, Haaland’s early-season history and kind fixtures once again make him a must-have for 2026/27 Fantasy.
