Manchester United sign David Eze

Manchester United’s recruitment this summer has not been limited to Michael Carrick’s first-team squad.

The club have continued placing major emphasis on strengthening the academy, with INEOS determined to secure some of the country’s brightest young prospects before they break into senior football elsewhere.

Carrington has already become a busy place this summer, and United’s academy staff have been working on another deal that has been developing over recent weeks.

That pursuit has now reached its conclusion.

David Eze signs for Manchester United

Manchester United have completed the signing of highly-rated midfielder David Eze from local rivals Manchester City, according to Attacking Football.

The report states that the agreement is now done, with the 16-year-old set to leave City’s academy and continue his development at Carrington.

David Eze is regarded as one of the most exciting midfielders in his age group and has already established himself as a player capable of competing above his level.

The teenager has featured on multiple occasions for England Under-17s despite still being only 16, while he has also captained the England Under-16 national side several times.

Although he currently represents England internationally, Eze maintains strong Irish connections.

United’s interest has been building for some time.

Last month, reports revealed that Eze had visited Carrington, fuelling speculation that a move across Manchester was edging closer.

His arrival may not be the last academy player to make the same switch.

Manchester United are also continuing to pursue another highly-rated Manchester City youngster in Karim Cassim, who is also believed to be close to completing a move to Old Trafford.

The double raid would represent another statement of intent from United as they continue strengthening one of the country’s most highly regarded academy systems.
