Auto thefts down, but are vehicles actually more secure?

Auto theft is down across the country, but do drivers actually feel like they’re better protected? Most Canadians remain skeptical, a new poll has found, that governments and manufacturers are actively keeping one step ahead of vehicle thieves. A new auto theft impact survey released Tuesday by Équité Association found that nearly two-thirds of Canadians surveyed are worried their vehicle may be stolen, despite Équité reporting a 33 per cent decline in auto theft across the country since 2023.
