Hidemasa Morita is set to join Hull City after agreeing a deal at the MKM Stadium following his departure from Sporting Lisbon.
The 31-year-old midfielder left the Portuguese giants in the summer, after playing 31 times last season, including 23 starts in the Primera División. During his spell with the club, he amassed 23 appearances in the Champions League and 11 in the Europa League.

He had been strongly linked with a move to Ipswich Town earlier this summer, before City swooped in to offer him a deal. Hull Live understands an initial two-year deal with the option of a further 12 months has been agreed.
After announcing his departure from the Estádio José Alvalade in the summer, the 40-cap Japan international was given a heroes’ reception, telling fans he could never play for another Portuguese club because of his loyalty to Sporting having won two league titles, and the Portuguese Cup.

In total, he made 166 appearances in Lisbon after leaving Santa Clara, and he now will undergo a medical with the Tigers over a move which would see him get a taste of Premier League football.

His name may be familiar to some City fans, after he was linked with a move to the East Riding a little over four years ago, back in January 2022.
Assuming Morita’s medical passes without issue, it’s expected he will link up with Sergej Jakirovic’s squad at their pre-season training camp in Slovenia.
The experienced midfielder, who operates in the deep-lying role, will join Jack Butland, Oscar Zambrano and Matt Targett as the club’s new arrivals, with more expected over the coming days.
