Prince George Turns 13! Prince William and Kate Middleton Share New Photo of the Teen

Prince George is now a teenager!

Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales, celebrated Prince George’s milestone 13th birthday with a sweet message on their official Instagram account Wednesday, July 22.

“Happy 13th Birthday, George! 🎉” they captioned a photo of their oldest child, decked out in a dark blazer, pants and white button-down shirt. In the new portrait, he sports a slight smile with his hands in his pockets.

The couple also shared a video of George on a beach playing with his younger brother, petting his dog and swinging a cricket bat, with the caption, “Thank you for all the birthday wishes for George today!”

The royal couple are also parents to Princess Charlotte, 11, and Prince Louis, 8.

The former Kate Middleton and her husband reveal special family photos of their children every year to mark their birthdays. Last year for the now-teen’s special day, the Prince and Princess of Wales’ official Instagram account shared a video of the three siblings holding hands. Prince George and Princess Charlotte also carried their younger brother and laughed in the clip.

The family recently attended the Men’s 2026 Wimbledon Final on July 12. Prince William, Kate, George and Charlotte sat in the Royal Box as they watched World No. 1 Jannik Sinner defend his title and secure the championship trophy for the second year in a row. Prince Louis did not attend the event.

After his win, Sinner was seen chatting with the family. In a video shared on ESPN’s YouTube page, the star athlete asked the children if they practice tennis every day. George and Charlotte shared that they usually practice on the weekends.

Shortly after the final, the Prince and Princess of Wales shared a congratulatory post on Instagram, featuring a video of the family cheering at the event. George appeared almost as tall as mom Kate in the footage.

“A brilliant Men’s Final at The Championships. Congratulations @janniksin on a superb performance and a well-earned @wimbledon title!” the caption read.

Prince George’s 13th birthday comes after a Kensington Palace spokesperson confirmed to NBC News in June that he is set to follow in his father’s footsteps and attend Eton College starting in September.

Eton College is a private boarding school in Windsor, England, that was founded in 1440 by King Henry VI. In addition to Prince William, former British Prime Ministers Robert Walpole, David Cameron and Boris Johnson studied there, as well as uncle Prince Harry and great-uncle Earl Charles Spencer.
