One Avengers: Doomsday Trailer Detail Might Confirm a Massive Rumor (And It Would Devstate Everyone)
Avengers: Doomsday is one of the most exciting movies of 2026, and a major detail regarding the film’s story may have just been released. The first trailer for Avengers: Doomsday is out now, giving a first look at Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom and the superheroes that will take him on in the film. The Avengers, the New Avengers, the Fantastic Four, FOX’s X-Men, and more are all here, setting up the MCU’s biggest crossover to date.
In the lead-up to Doomsday, one of the biggest challenges that the MCU has had to deal with is leaks. Fake Doomsday leaks are a dime a dozen, with a mix of liars, attention seekers, and AI-generated images flooding social media. However, if one of Doomsday‘s most repeated rumors is true, Doomsday‘s trailer may have given a first look at this major story moment. Warning: Contains potential spoilers for Avengers: Doomsday.
Professor X May Be Looking At The Destruction Of Spider-Man’s Universe In The Doomsday Trailer

Hundreds of Doomsday story rumors can be found online, but one of the most prevalent ones seems to originate with X user MyTimeToShineHello, a prominent MCU leaker. In a post from February 2026, the user claims that Wolverine and Deadpool will be sent to the universe of Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man, where they are tasked with destroying it. This will lead to a fight between Wolverine and Spider-Man, although it “ends in tragedy.”

Other leakers and individuals, speculators, and people involved in the rumor mill have expanded on this rumor. Allegedly, Avengers: Doomsday will open just before an incursion event in which Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man universe and the X-Men universe will collide. So, the X-Men send Wolverine and Deadpool to destroy Spider-Man’s world before the incursion destroys both. In the fight, Wolverine stays behind, dying along with Maguire’s Spider-Man and the rest of the universe. However, Deadpool escapes in the nick of time.
Again, this is all a rumor, and this storyline and the return of Deadpool, Wolverine, and Maguire’s Spider-Man have not been confirmed. However, one shot in the Avengers: Doomsday trailer shows Professor X looking out the window of the X-Mansion and seeing a planet explode in the sky. This is clearly early in the film, as later shots in the trailer show the X-Mansion has been destroyed. So, this leads to the possibility that Xavier is watching the destruction of Spider-Man’s universe from a distance. After all, whatever he sees is clearly on course to collide with the X-Men’s Earth, so regardless of this rumor, it seems likely that this is a foiled incursion event.
Since Doomsday is bringing back the FOX X-Men cast, it only makes sense that the film would bring back Maguire’s Spider-Man as well. After all, fans were begging for a crossover between the Spider-Man and X-Men movies back in the 2000s, and Doomsday can finally fulfill that wish. Maguire’s Spider-Man has already been set up by his appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and there seems to be nothing stopping Disney from paying off this wish with a Wolverine and Spider-Man fight in Avengers: Doomsday.
Killing Sam Raimi’s Universe Would Be Doomsday’s Most Controversial Choice
While the idea of Maguire’s return is exciting, if this rumor is true, it will be Doomsday‘s most controversial choice. Robert Downey Jr.’s return as Doom, the return of Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, and the usage of the FOX X-Men have all been highly discussed online, with many fans upset at the MCU’s seeming overusage of nostalgia and worn-out characters. However, all of these issues will be nothing compared to the outrage that will be seen if Raimi’s universe is ended.
Spider-Man 4 is one of the most requested superhero movies of all time, and after No Way Home, it seemed like it may be a possibility. However, the destruction of Spider-Man’s universe would completely dash these dreams, ruining the perfect setup that the MCU had already prepared. Plus, Raimi’s Spider-Man films are self-contained and absolutely beloved. The killing of characters like Mary Jane and Aunt May for nothing more than shock value in a mostly unrelated film would undoubtedly rub many fans the wrong way.
The only way that this reveal can work is if Maguire’s Spider-Man is a main character in Doomsday, as it would at least be an interesting way to kick off his story. However, if the universe is destroyed only for Spider-Man to be tossed to the side, this move will seem like a disrespectful way for Doomsday to handle Raimi’s movies.
