The two stars are really embracing the tradition of “links golf life” across the pond.
If there’s one thing Charley Hull has made abundantly clear, is that she loves old school golf.
Earlier this year the LPGA superstar joined the Vanity Index Podcast and shared her thoughts on the rollback debate, saying that she actually wishes that golf would go back to the equipment of the 1970s and 80s, a time where she credits those who played as artists and manufacturers of the ball.

“Back then, I thought golf was so interesting to watch,” Hull expressed during her appearance on the show. “The way they’d have to draw a ball in, fade the ball in. [I] would love to play in a tournament where we play with all the old clubs and everything. Because I feel like it would be so much more interesting, so much more to watch.”
And I’d have to say…I agree with the three-time winner, a tournament, whether if it’s an official Tour sanctioned event or a YouTube golf match it would be so fun to see the best players hang up their modern equipment for a bit and swap ’em for some good old hickories.

Ahead of the Women’s Scottish Open this week, Hull got to indulge in her wish teeing it up with an old wooden driver, and *spoiler alert* she struck it in insanely well.
A low little draw playing into some cross wind will certainly do as the Tour embarks on it’s annual two-week stretch of links golf. “I’m kind of understanding links golf a little bit more in tournaments,” Hull said in her pre-tournament presser. “Just kind of got out of my head that links doesn’t suit me, and just try and make it suit me.”
Hull had a runner-up finish at last year’s AIG, and with her strong performances at the majors this year, I wouldn’t count out the Brit for some at home magic next week.

World No. 1 Nelly Korda also took a swing with a hickory set during her Wednesday pro am, jokingly asking if they were available for next week.
When asked about her strategy around courses like Dundonald Links and Lytham, Korda said, “Low shots. You definitely have to hit more of like the imagination button, and depending on the weather that you get, I wouldn’t say this is a really, like, old school links golf where some of the greens are a little bit elevated. So it is tougher to run it up as it is maybe like it would be next week. But yeah, you definitely have to be a little bit more artistic around this golf course.”
Both Hull and Korda are set to play the opening rounds together this week along with 2025 Women’s Scottish Open winner Lottie Woad.
