Is Microsoft down? Users blocked from Teams, Outlook, OpenAI, XBox Live

It’s not just you. Some Microsoft users and administrators were experiencing problems accessing their services the morning of July 23.

Just after 10:30 a.m. ET, thousands of users started reporting outages for Microsoft 365, Outlook, Teams, Sharepoint, OneDrive, Copilot, Azure, XBox Live, and the Microsoft Store, according to downdetector.com. Some users on Reddit also reported problems downloading Windows updates or installing Microsoft Office apps.

“We’ve confirmed some users in North America are experiencing issues accessing or using various Microsoft 365 services,” Microsoft posted on X just before noon. Microsoft’s Service Health Status page shows “service degradation” for multiple services in Microsoft 365 on some specific network paths. The company was working to determine the source, the update said.

Downdetector also showed reports on access issues with other online services at about the same time, such as Amazon Web Services, Cloudflare, OpenAI, Fortnite, Dropbox, and more.

A Microsoft 365 outage in January affected thousands of users for several hours before the company was able to resolve the issue. Another hours-long outage was reported in April, this one for Microsoft Outlook.
