Sha’Carri Richardson will attempt to put on a 100m show in front a raucous crowd and under the bright lights of New York City at this week’s 2026 USA Track and Field Outdoor and Para National Championships (23-26 July).
The 26-year-old is hoping to join sprinter Carmelita Jeter as the only other woman to win three U.S. titles since 2000.
The stage couldn’t be more set, especially since the nation’s top athletes will compete in the Big Apple for the first time since 1991. Large crowds are anticipated to watch these stars perform at Icahn Stadium, located just east of Manhattan on Randall’s Island.
The Paris 2024 Olympic silver medalist won the championships in 2021 (vacated), 2023 and 2024. Richardson, the fastest American woman in 2026, has logged times of 10.77, 10.79 and 10.83, which makes her the front-runner in the event. USA teammate Melissa Jefferson-Wooden, considered her biggest threat for the title, is entered in the 200m and will not defend her 2025 crown.
