Ruby Rose Slams Sydney Sweeney Amid ‘Christy’ Discourse: ‘You’re a Cretin & You Ruined the Film’ | Christy, Ruby Rose, Sydney Sweeney | Celebrity News and Gossip | Entertainment, Photos and Videos

Ruby Rose is slamming Sydney Sweeney, and claiming she was originally attached to star in the film Christy.
If you did not see, this summer, American Eagle launched their Fall 2025 campaign, “Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans.” However, in some ads, “Jeans” had been crossed out and replaced with “Genes.”
Many accused American Eagle of promoting “eugenics,” since Sydney, 27, is white, blonde, and blue-eyed. Sydney‘s response to the ad has since gone viral.
Additionally, rumors circulated that Sydney is a registered Republican.
Now, Ruby Rose, who is known for her work on Orange is the New Black, has posted on social media.

Ruby posted on Threads, “The original Christy Martin script was incredible. Life changing. I was attached to play Cherry. Everyone had experience with the core material. Most of us were actually gay. It’s part of why I stayed in acting. Losing roles happens all the time. For her PR to talk about it flopping and saying SS did it for the ‘people’. None of ‘the people’ want to see someone who hates them, parading around pretending to be us. You’re a cretin and you ruined the film. Period. Christy deserved better.” FYI: It’s unclear who “Cherry” is, as there’s no character on the IMDb cast list called “Cherry.”
Someone responded to Ruby and wrote, “Having spoke to Martin herself, I can tell you she doesn’t agree with your take.”
Ruby then responded, “The cognitive dissonance would be very hard. But the truth is, no one who was supposed to see the film did. Or ever will. It disappeared, when it was once destined for a long term Call to Action campaign that could have changed lives. Whether Christy says that out loud is irrelevant.”
Sydney, who portrayed Christy in the film, just responded to the poor box office numbers despite the film receiving an incredible 98% on the Rotten Tomatoes audience Popcorn meter. In her message, she did reveal why she did the film and what made her most proud.
