OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – An 11-year-old boy is dead after a scooter was hit by a pickup truck in Bennington last week.
In a statement Thursday, Bennington Public Schools officials identified the child as Logan Rahn and confirmed he was one of their elementary students.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the crash in the area of 179th Street and Island Circle at about 4:30 p.m. last Tuesday.
Authorities say three juveniles were traveling northbound on 179th Street when Rahn entered the intersection and was struck by a westbound pickup truck. Nearby residents provided lifesaving aid before emergency crews arrived.
Rahn was taken to Children’s Nebraska in extremely critical condition. BPS said he died on Saturday, four days after the crash.
The crash remains under investigation, DCSO says.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and the Bennington community,” the sheriff’s office said in its news release on the incident.

Bennington Public Schools has activated its crisis response team, and counselors and support staff will be available to assist students and employees who may need support in the days ahead.”
