Even though there was a lot of stress and drama in the weeks leading up to it, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s trip to the U.K. earlier this month appears to have gone quite well. They got to bring their kids to Harry’s home country for the first time since 2022, and they spent some actual family time with King Charles. However, the most touching part of their visit only became public on Thursday, when Markle posted a photo dump from the family’s summer travels and included a picture of them at what appears to be Althorp, Princess Diana’s childhood home and burial site. Sources later confirmed to the Daily Mail that the photo was, in fact, taken at Althorp.

Princess Diana is buried on an island in the middle of a lake on the estate, which is not accessible to the public. In Markle’s photo, which is tucked toward the back of the carousel, you can see Harry and 7-year-old Archie walking down a tree-lined path, each carrying a bouquet of flowers. Five-year-old Lilibet is strolling behind them closer to Markle, who is presumably taking the picture. According to the Daily Mail, the family visited Diana’s grave and laid flowers.

People reported that the Sussex clan actually stayed at Althorp during their visit as guests of Harry’s uncle, Charles Spencer (Diana’s brother). A source previously told Vanity Fair that it was important to Harry “to bring the kids to see his family — not just the Windsors, but the Spencers too.”

Well, I’m moved. I’m also happy to see that, solely based on Markle’s photos, it looks like the family’s summer vacay was pretty fun and not totally clouded by drama. In one photo, Harry can be seen flipping a child (Lilibet, I imagine) through the air in a swimming pool. Isn’t that what vacation is all about?
