When Anna Leigh Waters heard that a comedy movie was being made about her beloved pickleball, a la “Talladega Nights” or “Dodgeball,” she had a few concerns.
“At the time, honestly, I was like ‘Oh, jeez,’ you know, ‘are they going to make fun of the sport?’” Waters, a nearly unbeatable 19-year-old who leads the Professional Pickleball Association tour rankings in singles, doubles and mixed doubles, said in an interview. “We already get made fun of so much. Is this going to add to it?”
