Sheeraz beats Zachenhuber by majority decision
Hamzah Sheeraz, speaking after his victory: “I got the win, that’s all that matters. I could sit here and make a million excuses but I will definitely be better in the next fight. I’m sure everyone is chomping at the bit now.
“I think I just need a step up, [fight] someone who is going to present a challenge mentally. I was listening to Andy [Lee] and switching off at times. When you are comfortable and you haven’t got a threat in front of you, I can tend to fall in to them habits. Hopefully, we get a big fight next.
“I knew it wasn’t good but I didn’t think it was that bad [to get a draw on the scorecard]. It’s back to the drawing board. It was a quick turnaround but I needed that. I needed the rounds. On to bigger and better things.
On what is next: “I will be there [for Canelo Alvarez’s next fight]. I am sure people are chomping at the bit after that performance, so let’s make the big one happen.
“[I want to fight] Any of the champions. You’ve got a good fighter in Jacob Bank, who I think deserves his shot at the title now. Spencer is both of our managers so I’m sure that’s an easy fight to make next.”
