A 77-year-old man has died after being struck by a school bus at a busy St. John’s intersection Friday morning.
In a statement sent Friday afternoon, the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary said police were called out at about 10:30 a.m. NT to the intersection of Allandale Road and Prince Philip Drive.
“The uninjured driver of the bus was co-operative and remained on scene; there were no passengers onboard at the time of the collision,” said Cst. Stephanie Myers.
The RNC’s accident investigation unit and operational patrol services were on the scene. Myers said the investigation is ongoing but the incident is “not believed to be criminal in nature.”
Myers stated police collision reconstructionists are looking for any witnesses or video footage from the area in the lead up to or immediately following the collision.
