After a week off following the Evian Championship the LPGA remains in Europe for two more weeks, starting this week at the ISPS Handa Women’s Scottish Open and ending next week at tie AIG Women’s British Open.
England’s Lottie Woad is the defending champion at Dundonald Links, winning early in her professional career. She’s added a second win to her resume earlier this year outside Cincinnati at the Kroger Queen City Championship.
Even so, all eyes will be on World No. 1 Nelly Korda, winner of two majors this year and always the top draw in the women’s game. She tops the field that consists of seven players ranked inside the top 10. The championship also features 19 major champions with a combined 35 major titles, including 44 LPGA winners with 181 victories.
World No. 1 amateur Kiara Romero is among the sponsor invites this week. A good performance in Scotland could give her an LPGA card through the tour’s LEAP program.
Next week the Women’s British Open will be at Royal Lytham and St. Annes in England. The Solheim Cup is in the Netherlands in early September, meaning these next two weeks are critical for the race to automatic selections on both the U.S. and European squads.
