The Odyssey’s Box Office Dominance Is Unmatched by Any 2026 Movie

Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey became 2026’s biggest box office success after two weekends, marking a record-setting run for an R-rated historical film. In its second weekend, Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey earned about $87 million, a 30% drop from a $123.5 million debut, a strong hold that is rare for openings above $100 million, especially for R-rated releases. Its $87 million second weekend is the second biggest ever for an R-rated movie, behind Deadpool & Wolverine. After 10 days, totals reached $286 million domestically and $353.2 million overseas, for $639.6 million worldwide. IMAX generated $140 million after the film was shot entirely with IMAX cameras. The film next faces Spider-Man: Brand New Day opening next weekend.
