Erie County’s top employer moved up 15 spots in the 2026 list of America’s largest corporations.
Erie Insurance ranked 308th on the most recent Fortune 500 list, climbing from last year’s ranking of 323rd.
The annual list, now in its 72nd year, ranks companies by their total revenues as recorded in the previous year.
According to Fortune, minimum revenue of $7.5 billion was required to crack the list of the 500 top companies. Erie Insurance Group reported $14.616 billion in revenue for the latest fiscal year.
The 2026 ranking marks the 23rd time that Erie Insurance has appeared on the Fortune 500 list. The company first appeared on the list in 2003, when it debuted at No. 454.
“Our place on the Fortune 500 reflects the trust our customers place in ERIE and the dedication our employees and agents bring to serving them every day,” CEO Tim NeCastro said in a statement.
This year’s list was led by Amazon with revenues of $716.9 billion, followed by Walmart with revenues of $713.2 billion.
Walmart had been in the top spot for the past 13 years.
According to the publication, Fortune 500 companies account for about two-thirds of the nation’s gross domestic product.
