One lane has been closed this afternoon, Monday, between junction 19, Knutsford and junction 20, Lymm Interchange.
This is due to an ongoing ‘police incident’, according to National Highways.
Cheshire Police are currently on scene attending to the incident.
Delays of up to 30 minutes are being reported.
A spokesperson for National Highways said: “Lanes one and two are now closed on the #M6 northbound in #Cheshire between J19 #TableyInterchange and J20 #M56 junction due to a police led incident.
“Cheshire Police are working on scene.
“Current delays of up to 30 minutes on the approach, with three miles of congestion.”
