Driver arrested on M6 in Knutsford after forced stop of suspected stolen car

Officers were called to stop a suspected stolen car on the M6 northbound between junctions 16 and 17 at around 12.30pm this afternoon, Monday.

The driver of the silver Dacia Duster failed to stop and made off.

Officers persued the vehicle and the vehicle was subsequently brought to a stop between junctions 19, Knutsford and 20, Lymm, following a minor collision.

Two lanes between both junctions were closed during the incident.

A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: “There were no reports of any injuries, and the driver of the car was arrested at the scene on suspicion of failing to stop for officers, theft of a motor vehicle, driving without insurance and driving without a licence.”

Delays between the junction remain in place as well as one lane closure.
