Ohio State will become the latest school to feature a sponsorship patch on its jerseys, adding the Chase Bank logo to every uniform across the school’s 36 sports. The deal is worth around $17 million a year, according to a source with knowledge of the deal but is not able to speak publicly about its details.
The addition of jersey patches has swept across the nation this summer at schools including LSU, Memphis, Wisconsin and more. Illinois recently agreed to a five-year, $30 million deal with Busey Bank to feature its logo, Sports Business Journal reported this week.
Ohio State’s deal, announced Tuesday morning, is a move that Ohio State athletic director Ross Bjork said will support athletics through NIL, but also “enhances the Buckeyes’ overall competitive success and facilitates academic partnerships across the university,” a news release said. The partnership includes branding at Ohio Stadium and the Schottenstein Center.
The partnership was facilitated in collaboration with Ohio State and Learfield’s Ohio State Properties.
“JPMorganChase is a global brand with deep roots in Ohio, making them a natural partner that shares our commitment to innovation, excellence and long-term community impact,” Bjork said in the release. “Together, we have built a comprehensive and historic partnership that reflects the strong commercial strength of the Ohio State Athletics identity and the broader college athletics landscape.”
