Zendaya’s Latest ‘Spider-Man’ Dress Is Her Most Abstract Yet

Across all ten stops on the international Spider-Man: Brand New Day press tour, Zendaya and stylist Law Roach have interpreted arachnids from every possible fashion angle. They’ve done diamond spiderweb gowns and a graphic Spidey tee like the one your nephew wears. In Shanghai, they scrounged up an archival $158,000 spider brooch that’s six years older than Z herself. At the Los Angeles premiere last night — the final major stop of the movie’s rollout — Zendaya wore a big, blobby sleep-paralysis demon made of black satin.
Designed by Ashi Studio, Zendaya’s latest red-carpet look features a navel-deep plunging neckline, antennas mimicking a spider’s pedipalps (look at us, learning new words) and a bunched, sculpted skirt that finishes in an asymmetrical train. The silhouette is abstract and surreal — and also something I’m praying I never come across in real life. Which was what Roach wanted: “It’s kind of an abstract way to present the spider,” the stylist told Variety at Monday night’s premiere. “It’s like this metamorphosis of this woman into this thing.”

In an Instagram caption, Ashi Studio revealed that the gown, which was originally designed for its fall 2026 collection, was meticulously handcrafted and took over 200 hours to complete. Much like her Matières Fécales dress from The Odyssey tour, it has been on hold for Zendaya for many months. “This look found its way to @zendaya even before its debut on the runway; a first fitting was organized in June, a few weeks before the show, when the look was still in the making,” the Saudi Arabian brand wrote.
Zendaya paired the gown with Art Deco–inspired Boucheron diamond earrings set in white gold with black lacquer and pointed-toe black heels. Zoom in on her feet and you’ll find one final, little Easter egg: a teeny-tiny black spider attached to her left toe. The method-dressing duo can’t be stopped.
