Former UFC title challenger Anthony Smith has been arrested.
Smith, 38, was arrested Monday in Sarpy County, Nebraska, on three felony charges (one count each) of domestic violence resulting in serious bodily injury, false imprisonment, and terroristic threats. MMA Junkie confirmed the arrest in online records after an initial posting by X user @saw_red24.

MMA Junkie placed multiple inquiries with Sarpy County officials for more information, but has not heard back at the time of publication. It’s unclear what circumstances exactly led to Smith’s arrest, which took place at 8:44 p.m. local time, one day after his 38th birthday.
Smith currently serves as an analyst for UFC events, working the desk. He is no longer an active fighter for the promotion, though he did come out of retirement to compete in an April bout for Gamebred Bareknuckle MMA.
A frequent headliner during his 25-fight UFC tenure, Smith most notably competed against Jon Jones for light heavyweight gold at UFC 235 in March 2019. He lost the bout via unanimous decision. Key wins over the span of Smith’s career include Alexander Gustafsson, Mauricio Rua, and Rashad Evans.
