Santos FC defeated Universidad Central 4-2 this Tuesday (28) in a CONMEBOL Sudamericana match. The game, played at Vila Belmiro, featured goals from Miguelito, Gabriel Barbosa, Gabriel Menino, and Rony. With the result, Alvinegro Praiano secured its place in the round of 16 of the competition and will face Club Deportivo Macará of Ecuador.
The visitors opened the scoring in the first minute through Samuel Sosa.
Peixe’s first chance came in the 9th minute, when Barreal won the ball inside the six-yard box and fired on goal, but the goalkeeper stopped it.
But it was in the 38th minute that Alvinegro Praiano equalized. Miguelito made an individual play down the right wing, cut inside onto his left foot, and fired the ball into the net to level the score.
At the start of the second half, Gabriel Brazão was called into action to make a difficult save after a free kick was struck directly at goal.
In the 10th minute, Gabriel Bontempo received the ball near the byline, crossed it, and after a deflection, it fell to Gabriel Barbosa. The striker calmly tapped it into the net to turn the match around.
Three minutes later, Barreal received a pass on the left wing, controlled the ball with his chest, and fired at goal. The opposing goalkeeper pushed it away for a corner, stopping the play.
Full-back Gabriel Menino extended the lead in the 19th minute. After Gabriel Barbosa’s shot hit the crossbar, Menino pounced on the rebound to find the net.
Universidad Central pulled one back in the 26th minute through Mottes from a set piece.
