The McIlroy and Lowry families enjoyed some down time after the major season ended

Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry rounded off the major season in style, jetting off to Greece with their wives and children for a thoroughly deserved break.
The Irish golfing stars departed for the Mediterranean destination shortly after Royal Birkdale, taking a well-earned rest following the most gruelling stretch of competitive golf in their calendar year.
Both players featured in all four majors, with McIlroy memorably claiming victory at Augusta National for the second consecutive year, securing back-to-back green jackets in April.
Despite struggling to replicate that form across the remaining three majors, McIlroy still pocketed an extraordinary sum in prize money from his major appearances.
Lowry’s major season, meanwhile, fell short of expectations. The 2019 Open Champion showed promise over the opening three rounds at Augusta before fading, and never truly threatened the leaderboard at the other three events, reports the Irish Mirror.
The families enjoyed a holiday together
Both men must now refocus their attentions for the concluding weeks of the FedEx Cup season, though McIlroy has candidly admitted that the season-long competition no longer ignites the same fire in him as it once did.
“There’s been years where I’ve given it maybe more of my attention [to the PGA Tour] and years that I haven’t,” McIlroy said. “I guess I’m just at a stage that I have other things that I prioritise.
“The PGA Tour is in a lot of flux at the minute with a lot of their schedule and structure and everything like that. It doesn’t matter where you are in the top 30 going into the Tour Championship.
“I just need to be in the top 30 going in there to have a chance to win a FedExCup, so why would I care about the first two? I came to that decision last year, and I’m just doing the same thing.”
