COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – Services to honor the late Sen. Lindsey Graham will take place Wednesday in South Carolina.
Graham, who represented the Palmetto State in the United States Senate since 2003, died July 11 at age 71. Memorial services in Washington, D.C. were held on Tuesday.
ORDER OF EVENTS
Graham’s body will then be transported back to South Carolina, with a final visit to the South Carolina State House in Columbia scheduled for 10:45 a.m. Wednesday.
The public will be able to pay respects along the procession route, which will run from the south side of the State House to the north side via the west walkway.
A caisson will then proceed down Main Street to First Baptist Church of Columbia for an additional service. Seating at the church will be first come, first served.
Graham’s body will then be transported back to South Carolina, with a final visit to the South Carolina State House scheduled for 10:45 a.m. Wednesday.(WIS)
A private family burial will follow in Pickens County.
ROAD CLOSURES/PARKING
Columbia city officials said the following road closures will be in effect beginning at 8 a.m. Wednesday:
- Hampton Street, between Sumter Street and Marion Street
- Washington Street, between Sumter Street and Bull Street
- Marion Street, between Hampton Street and Lady Street
Roads along the procession route will be closed between 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. No parking will also be allowed through noon Wednesday at the following locations:
- 1200, 1300 and 1400 blocks of Main Street (including the 1200 block of Hampton Street)
- 1100 block of Assembly Street (east side to the curb)
- 1100 block of Sumter Street (both sides)
