Main roster wrestler returns to WWE NXT, says last two years of career have been ‘an absolute embarrassment’
A former NXT star had a lot to say on this week’s show.
Tuesday’s episode started off with Grayson Waller making his return, cutting a shoot-style promo on his career saying it was time to start rattling some cages. He first talked about his status on the main roster, saying perhaps he didn’t politic or “kiss the right a**” but shared that the last two years of his career have been “a complete embarrassment.”
He took time to attack former tag team partner Austin Theory, saying he spent a year “carrying 240 points of idiot on my back.”
“I don’t care how many bells and whistles you give him,” Waller said. “At the end of the day, that Marty Jannetty is still allergic to the microphone.”
Without mentioning them by name, he blasted his time in the New Day, saying the only funeral he went to was one for his career. He also resented that Cruz Montana (Mike Santana) was walking into the promotion immediately in the NXT title scene and took a shot at his time in TNA.
“It ain’t 2005, lad,” he said. “Being the top guy in TNA is like being the best basketball player at the local YMCA, I’m not impressed.”
He made it known he was going after the NXT title before turning his attention to the roster, saying that the women were “running laps” around the guys and while 90% of them think they’re ready to be called up, only 10% are ready and they’re all women. He praised the independent talent for doing things in the ring no one else can do, but also called them “charisma vacuums.”
Eventually, Waller’s microphone was cut out as he exited the ring and attempted to continue his promo in front of the camera. Instead,the screen blacked out and went to commercial.
Waller has been off main roster television since The New Day was taken off television, with Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods choosing to leave WWE. Since then, Waller has mostly been working house shows both in NXT and WWE.
