The first items that come to mind when looking at these ratings is that EA Sports seems to have been less strict in their rookie ratings this season compared to previous ones. Typically rookies will receive comically low ratings. However, this season four of the eight draft picks a rating over 70 seems a little more reasonable. To add some more context to the overall rookie ratings, only four players received a rating of over 80
Another thing to keep an eye on when more ratings drop later is where some of the Seahawk veterans are rated, specifically in the safety and running back room. With Bud Clark and Jadarian Price receiving a 75 overall rating, will those be good enough to surpass some veterans in the room such as Zach Charbonnet or Ty Okada? What about right guard? One would think that Anthony Bradford should have a higher rating at right guard than Beau Stephens at 70. However, EA Sports has done crazier things.
Another one to keep in mind is cornerback. Devon Witherspoon will surely have a higher rating than any of the rookie cornerbacks. Josh Jobe should as well. However, it will be interesting to see where the rest of the cornerback room (Nehemiah Pritchett, Noah Igbinoghene, Shemar Jean-Charles, and Brandon Johnson) end up in comparison to the rookies.
Of course Madden ratings are only that. They will have no bearing on the actual camp battles the Seahawks will have (obviously). That being said, it is still fun to see where the new Seahawk players end up in a completely arbitrary set of ratings by EA Sports. Just don’t put too much weight into them (unless you want to be like the New York Jets.)
