Dundee United is delighted to announce the signing of Daniel Bennie on a season-long loan from QPR.
The highly-rated winger heads to the Calforth Construction Arena at Tannadice Park as Jim Goodwin’s tenth summer signing.
Born in Hong Kong to Scottish parents, Bennie moved to the west coast of Australia in 2017 and plied his trade with various grassroots sides before being picked up by Perth Glory in 2021.
A productive few years with The Glory’s youth sides followed and after a successful U17s Asian Cup with the young Socceroos’ Bennie enjoyed a breakout season in the A-league.
Daniel made his debut for the first team in a pre-season friendly against West Ham United in the summer of 2023, scoring Perth’s second goal of the game at the age of 17.
The 20-year-old would go on to play just shy of 2,000 minutes in his first full season of men’s football, notching four goal contributions.
This form saw QPR come calling with the R’s bringing Bennie to West London, initially as part of their development squad in May 2024.
That same summer Bennie would make his debut for the Championship side against West Bromwich Albion at Loftus Road.
In the 2025/26 season he scored eight goals in 10 games for QPR’s development side before being integrated into the first team following the turn of the year.
The young winger would feature in matchday squads for every fixture from the 4th January to the end of the 2025/26 season bar one with his first Championship goal coming against now Premier League side Hull City in a 3-1 win.
An Australian youth international up to U20s level and also eligible for the Scotland National Team, Daniel heads to the City of Discovery looking to keep progressing in Tangerine.
AN EXCITING TALENT FROM DOWN UNDER
After securing his latest addition of the summer transfer window, Dundee United Manager Jim Goodwin expressed his delight, saying: “Daniel is a player we’ve been aware of for some time and we’re delighted to bring him to Dundee United.
“He’ll provide another option for us going forward and add real strength and depth as we head into the season.
“Daniel is direct, and pacy and adds real versality across our front line. I can’t wait to get to work with him.”
A NEW CHAPTER IN THE CITY OF DISCOVERY
Bennie added: “I’m absolutely delighted to get everything sorted and I can’t wait to get going with Dundee United.
“It’s such a huge club and it felt at this stage of my career it is the best move to keep developing my craft on loan.
“I know a few of the lads from the A-League and played with Josh for a bit at Perth so I’m excited to see some familiar faces and also meet all the other lads.”
Bennie will wear number 77 during his time in Tangerine.
