The 2020 Harry Macqueen film Supernova will become a stage play in 2027 with a world premiere at Scotland’s Pitlochry Festival Theatre, to be directed by John Tiffany (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Once). Macqueen is adapting his screenplay for the stage, about a longtime gay couple facing the tragedy of early onset dementia.
Performances will run July 24-August 21, 2027, with opening night set for July 30.
PFT Artistic Director Alan Cumming and screen star Ewan McGregor will lead the play, playing the roles inhabited on screen by Colin Furth and Stanley Tucci. Further casting is to be announced.
The production will feature movement direction by Steven Hogget and design by Jamie Harrison. The creative team will also include associate director Sam Hardie.

A love story, a treatise on life and death itself, and a visual feast—with two Scottish laddies at its heart. What more could you want?!”
