Best Alyssa Thomas Prop Bet for Mercury vs. Valkyries on Wednesday 7/29/26

Alyssa Thomas may well be the most well-rounded player in basketball and is one of the most accomplished players in WNBA history, finishing in the top five in MVP voting for four consecutive seasons. Whenever she retires, she’ll likely make the Hall of Fame at the first time of asking.

She also might be the best reminder that basketball is a team sport, as despite her individual brilliance, she’s never won a title, losing in the WNBA Finals three times. This season, she’s still had a strong individual campaign, but the Phoenix Mercury are well outside of playoff contention. They’ll face off tonight against a team that will make the playoffs, the Golden State Valkyries, with tipoff set for 10:10 p.m. ET.

Phoenix is a 3.5-point underdog at DraftKings Sportsbook, with the point total set for 156.5. Below, I’ve detailed my favorite prop bet centered around Thomas.

Alyssa Thomas Double-Double (+115)

Thomas is a consistent threat to stuff the stat sheet, as she’s recorded 20 triple-doubles throughout her career, 15 more than any other player. All in all, she has seven double-doubles and one triple-double in 26 games this season, but she’s in fine form, recording a double-double in two of her past four games and falling four points shy once. She could easily reach double-digits in any of the major stat categories in any given game, having recorded 18 double-digit scoring nights, seven double-digit assisting nights, and four double-digit rebounding nights this season.

Golden State has been excellent defensively, as it’s allowed the fewest points, seventh-fewest rebounds, and fewest assists per game, but the Valkyries could be vulnerable against Thomas. They effectively force opponents to attempt floaters, but that’s where Thomas thrives; she’s attempted the fourth-most non-restricted paint tries per game this season and has had average accuracy among the 21 players to try at least three such shots per game. Opponents have also been fairly accurate from deep against Golden State, connecting at the seventh-highest rate, so she could dish out plenty of assists to Jovana Nogić and Monique Akoa Makani if they’re hitting. She had a 19-point, 11-assist double-double in the teams’ first matchup and missed out on a double-double by one dime in their second.
