Yesterday when doing press for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Zendaya gave the public a new sleep-paralysis demon in the form of a creepy-crawly couture gown. Today, she restored my faith in romance by wearing matching spider brooches with Tom Holland at the U.K. premiere.
Walking the red carpet across the pond for the newest Spidey film, Zendaya wore a couture Tamara Ralph gown made of Champagne silk embellished with stripes of gold beads. Clusters of crystal straps cascaded down her shoulders, mimicking the look of those spiderwebs I can’t reach in the top-right corner of my closet. Never one to miss out on a method-dressing opportunity, stylist Law Roach attached an itsy-bitsy diamond-encrusted gold spider brooch by jeweler Keren Wolf to the base of Zendaya’s spine.

Holland’s brooch, meanwhile, was front and center on his bespoke Savile Row burgundy suit, affixed to the knot of his necktie. The brand behind Peter Parker’s decal, Pragnell, confirmed the arachnid accessory comes with legs that articulate and move on their own. Very cool, but with the utmost respect, keep that thing away from me.

Spider brooches have become Zendaya’s sneaky signature on the Spider-Man press tour. Last week, she affixed a pavé-diamond David Webb spider motif to the waist of yet another fantastic, freaky insect-inspired dress, this one by Atelier Versace. Isn’t it nice that she let Holland do a little method dressing as a treat? That’s love.
