Bambii
Toronto DJ and producer Bambii knows how to make a dance floor move, as evidenced by her sweaty Boiler Room sets. Her hip-gyrating rhythms and mixes are a must-hear for electronic music lovers, who’ll want to hear her tracks with airy vocals and experimental production. The Juno winner was recently featured on fellow Osheaga performer Zara Larsson’s Midnight Sun: Girls Trip remix album on The Ambition, and the track is the perfect introduction to how Bambii’s esoteric touch can translate on a fun, summery song.
Little Simz
It’s been over a decade since British rapper Little Simz last hit the stage at Osheaga, and in that time she’s spanned genres from grime to electronic music to soul-infused hip-hop, and played shows all around the world. Her concerts are part rave, part rap party, and she commands a crowd with a cool, earned confidence. See her play songs such as Gorilla, Venom and Mood Swings at the festival before she heads out on tour with Gorillaz this fall.
Mico
Fresh off his recent Juno nomination for breakthrough artist, punk-pop balladeer Mico makes his Osheaga debut on Aug. 2. The Toronto singer-songwriter will play his sweetly infectious tracks on the belairdirect Valley stage, sparking emotions through heartfelt and melancholy songs such as Like You Mean It. In a post on Instagram, he called Osheaga his dream festival, to which rockers Hotel Mira commented — and potentially predicted — “MICOSHEAGA.”
Tate McRae
The Calgary pop star returns home to headline Osheaga for the very first time, being the first Canadian artist to top the bill since the Weeknd in 2017. (It’s also her only Canadian show this year.) Between her hits such as Revolving Door, Sports Car and, of course, Greedy, her fanbase, a.k.a. Tater Tots, will have plenty of songs and jaw-dropping dancing to tide them over during her Aug. 1 set.
